March Guild Meeting

Our March guild meeting was a visual feast!!! We had so many beautiful quilts to look at that we all needed time just to soak it all in. I think we are all motivated to either start or finish a quilt of our own.
First, Nayna showed us the disappearing hourglass block and the variations we can make by just rotating the pieces a bit.
Next we had show and tell:
Kathy showed her block of the month pioneer story quilt.
Mariel showed her chenille baby quilt:
Micky showed her cute placemats and also, a jacket that she made from beautiful batik fabric.

Pam shared her Olympic block quilt that she made for her son's birthday. He was born during the olympics so this has special meaning for them. She also showed her gorgeous bargello quilt that she made for her daughter.

Margaret showed her falling charms quilt. She used fabric from Alaska and it is beautiful.
Jeanette showed a really pretty quilt that she is donating to the care center. The group has decided to donate 15 twin sized quilts and this is Jeanette's 3rd one.
Nayna finished up four very nice quilts.

Our Mystery Quilter for this month is Mariel Budd. She brought the most amazing quilts to share.

This is the first quilt that she made.
Look at the colors on this beautiful quilt.
This is a Hopi wall hanging that she fussy-cut. Beautiful!
Then she made a larger one and also quilted it herself.
Mariel shared her beautiful trapunto work. The picture does not do it justice. She did an outstanding job.
Mariel took a class and learned the techniques for this beauty. She said it has 1,000 little pieces. What a keepsake.
Mariel is the first one to finish our alphabet quilt from last year. It is just beautiful. Also, the next picture shows the back of the quilt. She said that she doesn't like leftover fabric. Great job from our fellow quilter.

We had very special guests from Tropic, UT. The Desperate Housewives braved the snow and came to Kanab to do a trunk show for us. It truly was a visual feast and we loved every minute of it.
Keela Mangum, Gwen Brinkerhoff, Florence Syrett, and Crystal Mortensen (Sheree Walsted wasn't able to come, but sent her quilts) inspired all of us with their quilts which really are works of art. We appreciated their time and effort to come and share their many gorgeous quilts.

Now, sit back and enjoy the work of these talented women.

Thank you, Desperate Housewives, for sharing your talent, and for your time and effort for us today. We loved having you and welcome you back anytime.
