December Christmas Party

We enjoyed our final meeting of 2015 at a Christmas party held at Micky Robinson's home. Thanks, Micky, for being such a gracious hostess.
We have had a wonderful quilting year and learned many useful things. We have also enjoyed the friendship and social time that we have had together.
At our party we had a delicious lunch and appreciated the gifts that Marla provided. We all needed and will use the nice flashlights. Thank you Marla.

We also had a short show and tell. Margaret showed three beautiful items that she made with the Christmas fabric that she got at the guild auction. All three turned out so nice and she used all the fabric and used it well.

Micky showed two sets of place mats that she made as gifts. They are both so bright and pretty.

Kris showed her completed alphabet quilt that Marla quilted for her. It really is a beautiful quilt and is beautifully quilted.

Kris also shared some excitement and information about the class she took from Ricky Timms. Nayna attended as well and they both said they learned so much and that we all need to go the the next workshop.

We all had a good time and thanked Nayna and Ilene for their work this past year. We look forward to our new year and new President Cherilyn and her board.

Merry Christmas to everyone and enjoy the holidays.

Goodbye to Helen Larsen

Our sweet friend, Helen Larsen, passed away on November 3rd. She was 97 years old!
She was a long time member of the quilt guild and was an inspiration to all as she went to retreats, meetings, and any classes available. She always wanted to learn and her enthusiasm was contagious.
She will be missed but we know that she is on to her next adventure!

November Quilt Guild meeting

Our November guild meeting was very satisfying as the group worked on several service projects. We finished 17 mealtime clothing covers for our friends at the skilled nursing facility. Stuffed animals and blankets were completed and taken to the hospital for children that need comfort while there. We also completed 12 beanbag items for the premature babies at the NICU in St. George. We enjoyed donating these items and know that they will be well used.

Pamela demonstrates how the beanbags are assembled and showed a picture of a tiny preemie weighing 2 pounds that these items will help.

Jeanette shows a finished beanbag that is snuggled around the tiny babies to keep them secure.

Chris and Addie Lou prepare the fabric for the clothing covers.

Addie Lou shows the finished product!

Ilene shows some of the darling critters and blankets for the hospital.

Then it was on to show and tell. Pam started with this beautiful quilt that she just finished for her precious daughter. Pam did the quilting herself and it is amazing.

Alana was next with this gorgeous log cabin variation. Marla quilted it and it is just stunning.

This baby quilt is a raw edge circle quilt that Alana made using lots of different scraps. She put minky on the back and quilted it herself. It is so colorful and soft.

This baby quilt is made from a darling panel with minky on the back and quilted by Alana. Lucky baby that gets these little quilts.

Chris used her telephone book template pattern for this colorful quilt. She made this for her great nephew. The corner blocks are made from fabric with mustaches. Special meaning for her fun great nephew.

Nanell finished this beautiful quilt and showed how Linda quilted a sun in each block and it went from rising to setting sun. Beautiful!!

Nanelle made this beauty from a class that she took last year at Ruby's. It turned out really nice.

The next two  quilts are for great-grand babies that will arrive soon. They are so colorful and fun.

Alana told us about the trip that she took with Micky to Missouri to visit some fun quilt shops. They saw all the Missouri Star Quilt company shops and also Kansas troubles shop and they both shopped until they couldn't shop anymore.

Jeanette shared a very serious incident with her iron. She had it plugged in and was working away on a quilt when she heard a clicking noise and in short time realized that her iron was billowing smoke and burning. She quickly took it outside and it continued to smoke for a long time. She says that from now on she never leaves her iron on between pressing jobs. It is much safer to turn it on just before you need it. Thanks for the warning Jeanette.

After lots of sewing and talking and sewing and talking some more, this group of gals is ready for some delicious pizza.

Ilene reported that if you are interested in the ruler that she demonstrated last month you can find it here:  http://www.karenkaybuckley.com/index.php

Margaret said that the blog from her quilt guild in Alaska is up to date and if you would like to see it click here:  http://anchoragelogcabinquilters.blogspot.com/

Everyone had a very enjoyable time together and look forward to our next meeting.

October Guild Meeting

October Quilt Guild Meeting
The meeting for this month was packed with fun, laughs, beautiful quilts, new tool ideas and friendship. Enjoy the pictures!!

Linda Krepela from Scrap Apple Quilts in St. George visited our guild and showed several new and interesting tools. We sure did appreciate her time and effort.

Our next service project will be making clothing coverings for the folks at the care center.

Alana demonstrated how the coverings close in the back with velcro.

Alana showed this beautiful block and talked about her method of creating it.

Next on the agenda was "Who made this quilt". Everyone had fun guessing who the quilter was.

Look at that darling caterpillar quilt.

Now who could this mystery quilter be??

Everyone had a great time and we all look forward to our next meeting.

September Quilt Guild Meeting

Our September guild meeting was a time for all of us to relax and enjoy time together after all the hard work of the quilt show. Nayna thanked everyone for all the hard work and then Marla told the story of the raffle quilt and the person that won it. Beautiful quilt Marla.
Ilene show the new disappearing five patch and it sure does make a pretty block.
Judy brought her block made from the ugly fabric game that we played last month. Way to follow through Judy.
Mariel started show and tell with this colorful quilt. The back of the quilt is the real gem.
Mariel is perfecting her machine quilting skills and did a different design on each block. Each one was beautiful and Mariel really did an amazing job. She will be ready to hire out soon.
Marla showed this original quilt that she designed with her sister. It is a very unique quilt and everyone loved it.
Alana showed her darling little stuffed animals and blankets that will be donated to the hospital. Good work Alana.
Nayna was the mystery quilter for this month and she shared many of her treasure quilts. This is one of the first quilts she made. It was for a family reunion.
This wall hanging was made for her bedroom many years ago.

This quilt is indeed a treasure to Nayna because it was made by her Mother and sister in memory of her precious daughter.
 Cute Halloween wall hangings.

This wall hanging was her first time working with wool. It won viewer's choice at the quilt show last year. Beautiful.

The next two wall hangings were round robin projects.

This beauty was ten years in the making and is hand quilted. Amazing work Nayna.

We finished the meeting with a delicious pot luck lunch, visited and thoroughly enjoyed each others company.
