First meeting of 2014

Kathy welcomed everyone, explained the program for the new year, and introduced the blog. Then it was on to show and tell.
Ilene showed her 1/2 jelly roll quilt with an added row of hexagon flowers. She said "it was done with some help from my friend Alana" who stitched the flowers to the quilt.

Ilene's Mom started the dolls for this Sunbonnet Sue quilt years ago. Ilene decided to put them together and with Alana's help assembled the quilt. It is a very beautiful, sentimental keepsake.
Ilene's Mother also made this pillowcase for her years ago. What a great combination with the quilt.
Vickie finished her gorgeous felt flower quilt. She did an amazing job! The color choices are perfect.

Micky started this blue and pink quilt years ago and finally put it together. Mac picked out the darker blue and it really pulls it all together. She sent it all home with Linda to be quilted so we will see the finished product soon. Good job Micky.
Micky has also been busy making pincushions. That is one cute flying pig.
These 3 beautiful landscape works of art were made by Pam as Christmas gifts to Ellie, Nayna and Kathleen. They are each views of a very sentimental place to the recipients. Pam really is an artist and a very generous friend.
This Civil War/Gettysburg Address quilt is a favorite of Kathy's. She embroidered the blocks on her machine and finished it at a retreat at Dave's Bernina.

This bargello table runner is a first time shot at bargello for Kathy. It was surprisingly easy and pretty quick.
These are the quilter's alphabet blocks for January. Arkansas Crossroads and Balkan Puzzle.

Pam, Ellie and Vickie made their blocks and look at how different they each look because of the color choices. This will be a fun project.
Nayna showed the Broken Wheel block for the service project for the new skate park. The quilt will be raffled off to raise money for the park.

We finished the meeting with a very Happy Unbirthday party and each member received their gift of a bottle of pressing spray. It is a homemade recipe and contains a secret ingredient that really works. We also had a power point presentation of our members quilt rooms. We all saw some ideas for organizing our own rooms and it was a lot of fun.
