Nayna started the meeting by showing some of the darling stuffed animals and blankets that have been donated for the service project for the hospital.
Kris Kowal made this cute little trip around the world quilt to go with a little rabbit.
Kris also made this sweet little rag quilt to go with a soft frog.
Look at the darling bullfrog and quilt.
Also this little bear in an envelope quilt. Well done everyone and keep those animals coming.
Next on the agenda was a display and explanation of the disappearing 4 patch block. It is fun to see all the variations that can be made from a simple 4 patch.
Next, it was time for show and tell. Micky started the fun by showing her patriotic wall hanging. She took a class and learned how to do this project.
Micky got the kit for this fun Christmas wall hanging at our auction. She was pretty pleased to have this and to have finished it. She also quilted it herself.
Micky told us that she bought a large quilter and before she set it up Alana suggested that she try hand-quilting and see if she liked it. She reported that she thought it was fun and now has to decide if she is going to set up the large frame quilter.
This quilt was made by Ivan Hamblin. Ivan used to do all the piecing for the quilts that he made with his wife and then she would do the quilting.
Mariel made this beautiful trapunto table topper and used a very pretty color of fabric. She always does such nice work.
Mariel made this wall hanging using the 54/40 or Fight pattern and the Churn Dash pattern combined to make a circular pattern. So colorful and so well done.
This wall hanging was made using a panel. Mariel then used a new technique for the lettering and she also quilted it herself.
Alana took a class at Rubys to learn how to make this darling quilt. It is so unique and bright. She did say that she threw the pattern away after she finished because she is sure that she will never make this quilt again.
Nayna took a class in Cedar and learned how to make this beautiful quilt. She added flowers on the borders and then Marla did an outstanding job with the quilting. So nice.
We had a visitor from California join us today and show this gorgeous landscape wallhanging. She loves this technique and wants to do some of photos of Zion.
Kris Kowal was the mystery quilter for this month. It was fun to learn a little about her and her quilting story. She had Learn to quilt on her bucket list and learn to quilt she certainly has. This quilt is the first one that Kris made. She told us to watch how her color preferences have changed over the years.
Since Kris gives most of her quilts away she keeps a quilt journal with pictures of the quilts and the recipients. What a great idea.
She said that this quilt was very difficult for her because it was paper piecing and she had a bit of a struggle with it. It is beautiful.
This small quilt was made for a friends birthday. Kris had her friends write a one word description of her and Kris embroidered the words on blocks. What a treasure.
This wall hanging was made for her son and is so bright
Kris said she can study this one over and over because of the use of color. It was made by an Amish quilter and is beautiful.
Look how bright and colorful this quilt is. her color perferences are coming out. This fabric is a favorite of Kris' and is a Laurel Birch fabric design.
Kris brought her design board and some blocks that she found tucked away. She wanted some input on assembling the blocks and I think she found the help she was looking for.
Kris made this quilt for herself and hangs it in her living room. The pattern and color choices and just gorgeous.
This is a large mondo bag that Kris made using some of the Laurel Birch fabric.
The next two quilts were made by a friend of her Grandmother's that Kris called Aunt Especia. They are both just amazing and are hand quilted. The second one has a cross stitch pattern. Both of the quilts have large rick rack sewn in the binding.
Thanks, Kris for sharing your treasures and letting us learn about you.
The meeting ended with a spirited game of bingo using fabric squares on a bingo card. Everyone really enjoyed the game and now we will make a block with the squares and they will be put together for a qult to be donated to the skilled nursing facility as part of our service project there.
