6 Sept 2016 meeting

We got together at this guild meeting to make blankets for stuffed animals to go to the hospital.  Some people started out by picking stuffed animals to just hold.

Marla shared her "Celebrate Quilts" and why she loves to quilt.  And then she showed us a quilt where she made up the pattern.  Beautiful!!

Cherilyn talked to us about the need for blankets and stuffed animals for the hospital and introduced our program.

Mariel's husband has an old truck that he restored and this t-shirt quilt shares different car shows that featured the truck.

Rachelle Robinson made a baby quilt using the row quilt blocks that Alana has been sharing with us all year.

Nanell also has made a quilt using the row quilt patterns.

And Alana gave us our next patterns.

Ilene gave a demonstration on how to cut material on the bias.  The striped material makes it a little easier.

Then she demonstrated a way to never lose your needle.  But it depends on putting two knots in your thread.  Not sure I can do that.

2 Aug 2016 meeting

We don't very often take a picture of the ladies in our quilt guild, but for some reason we did at this meeting.

Alana shared her house quilt before the Western Legends quilt show.  and a quilt with scrappy stars.

Our next year's president Cindy Romrell shared a small crazy quilt that she did previously.  Lots of pieces to look at.

Ilene shared a jelly roll race and her alphabet quilt from last year.

Nayna finished a kit.  Several of us commented that ours are still in the package.  Nayna also showed us a bag that she made at Panguitch this year.  Very cute.

Kathy Chamberlain always has something beautiful to share.

Not sure, but I think Kris likes purple.  It keeps coming up.

Maggie Reed is certainly doing wonderful for a beginner.

Pam Young' daughter came to visit, so of course, they sewed, and sewed, and sewed.

Crystal provided a demonstration on making bias tape.  she made it look easy.

And Marla provided a demonstration on using the pineapple ruler.

5 July 2016 meeting

Dianne Cram, quilt curator and historian came to us from the Peter Wentz farmstead on the east coast.  She gave us information and advice about our antique quilts.  Micky Robinson's sister Gaby brought and old quilt from Kansas that she brought for evaluation so Dianne partially used it for her demonstration.

This red and green quilt was the first one that Dianne restored.  She showed us the parts that are original and the parts where she had to replace fabric.  This was a fascinating presentation for all of us.

Here Dianne is evaluating a quilt that was brought in for her advice about restoring.

Micky brought in a quilt that her grandmother made probably in the 30's or 40's.  Micky had thought about cutting it up and making pillows for each of her siblings, but Dianne's comment was that then you lose a quilt.  She gave us lots of advice about how to restore the quilt.

Shan Clark brought a crazy quilt that she bought at a yard sale for $4.  She's just going to enjoy it.

Ilene brought pieces that her grandmother had put together.  She did that at least 63 years ago.  All the piecing is by hand or on a treadle sewing machine.
